In the last month, I introduced a new project to a small group of people I thought might be a fit. It went well, and I got some excellent suggestions to strengthen it. It’s going to be a little longer before it’s entirely public, but here among friends… this is what I’m up to.
I mentioned last time some labels for people I’m meeting online: generalists, polymaths, systems thinkers, sensemakers, and more. After a brief search for a name to unite them, I realized that the question – what’s the word for these interesting people? – contained the answer.
So now, I’m referring to them collectively as Interesting People. Capitalized, as a reminder that I’m not referring simply to people who are interesting.
This matters because I’m building an online community meant to bring these groups together. After years of virtual meetups and online communities, I’m building the one I wanted to join. One to scratch the itch, left by existing communities, to do something together.
The community is currently running with a small group of invited members to kick the tires and refine the concept. It’s invite-only for now, but if you want one, just reply to this email.
The goal is to create a space for people who have multiple interests and approach the world with curiosity, where the focus is on peer support through our discovery and creation processes. It’s international from the start, and I know most of these folks. I can’t wait to see what they accomplish together.
