This week we’re listening to music selected by Jason Oermann, who runs the The Magenta Sound Archive, a project which has documented set lists for so many parties that have happened in New York. Over 300,000 songs worth (!!!). I found Jason through his playlists (on Spotify) and was immediately struck the resonance between his project and Vince Aletti’s book The Disco Files, also an incredible archival artifact that has allowed me to discover so much great music.
Jason has given us an amazing playlist of 150 of his favorite songs over the last 20 years, pulled from parties, DJ sets, and personal discovery. This playlist is SO GOOD. It will have you GROOVING in place. Maybe you’ll even have to get up and start dancing.
