The hugely popular and more-than-slightly-bonkers drama Yellowjackets has confirmed the premiere date for its fourth and final season.

The show will be kicking off its final batch of episodes in a few months' time, starting from 20 November on Paramount+.

We don't know how many episodes the season will have, but previous seasons have had either nine or 10 episodes, so we'd expect this to follow suit.

The show follows the survivors of a plane crash in the late 1990s, who descend into madness and cannibalism as they try to stay alive in the Canadian wilderness.

Running parallel to that is a second timeline taking place in the present day, as the survivors struggle to live normal lives following the traumatic incident.

As per the official synopsis, in season 4 "the survivors race to bury their sins before rescue arrives and an old flame roars back into town with plans of her own. Turns out not every homecoming is a joyous one, and this one's going to sting."

The cast for the season is set to include Hilary Swank, Christina Ricci, Melanie Lynskey, Tawny Cypress, Sophie Nélisse, Jasmin Savoy Brown, Sophie Thatcher, Samantha Hanratty, Courtney Eaton, Liv Hewson, Warren Kole, Kevin Alves, Sarah Desjardins, Nia Sondaya, and Jenna Burgess.

Yellowjackets has been acclaimed by critics since the start, with season 1 boasting a perfect 100% score on Rotten Tomatoes from 77 reviews, while seasons 2 and 3 hold strong at 94% positive and 84% positive, respectively.

"Gruesome, gripping and blackly comic, this tightly-plotted mystery-horror is meaty in all the right (and wrong) ways", Empire magazine wrote.

"The performances are consistently stellar, from the veterans to the relative newcomers, and Lynskey and Ricci especially shine in the present-day scenes, bringing welcome humor to their dark, frequently amoral characters", stated the Boston Globe.

While the critical acclaim may have slightly decreased over the seasons, viewership has gone up, with the season 3 finale being the show's most-watched episode to date, according to Variety.

Yellowjackets is available to stream on Paramount+, while the first two seasons are also available on ITVX in the UK.
