A US Army battalion is reportedly offering troops four days off to play GTA 6 as an incentive to re-enlist.

GTA 6 is scheduled to launch for PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S on November 19, 2026. While fans and businesses are already preparing for the release, one military unit appears to be taking the hype to another level.

Needless to say, everyone is getting in on the unprecedented anticipation for Grand Theft Auto VI.

Army memo offers four-day GTA 6 pass for re-enlisting soldiers

According to Kotaku, a memo circulating online appears to come from the 9th Engineer Battalion at Fort Stewart, Georgia.

The document, dated July 28 and reportedly signed by commanding officer Lt. Col. Ryan D. Hodgson, says soldiers who re-enlist between August 1 and November 14 can receive a four-day pass from November 20 through November 23.

Troops would still need to submit a request through the Army’s personnel system and receive approval from their company commander. The pass cannot be combined with other leave to create a longer absence.

Soldiers flagged over administrative matters, physical fitness or body composition standards would also be ineligible until those issues are resolved.

The memo was shared by the Instagram account ‘US Army WTF Moments’, which urged Rockstar to get involved.

“Get in on this Rockstar Games. Get games to the troops for reupping,” the group wrote.

Neither the Army nor the battalion has publicly confirmed the document’s authenticity. However, some details reportedly match, including Hodgson recently taking command of the unit.

Players on Reddit were split over whether it was genuine. “The motion this game has never fails to amaze me,” one fan commented.

“I don’t believe it’s real,” another wrote. “But every company should do that, otherwise there’s gonna be A LOT of people calling in sick on November 19th.”

The memo would not be the first unusual response to GTA 6’s launch. A California car company previously announced it would pause operations because employees were taking the day off, while one couple was roasted for signing a launch week contract. Some fans have even made lifestyle changes to survive the wait.

Expectations remain sky-high. A leaker claims GTA 6 has “next-level” gameplay, while one insider believes its technology will not be matched for over 20 years.

The $100 Ultimate Edition is also outselling the $80 Standard Edition, and an upcoming Netflix special is targeting those who are not already planning to buy the game on day one.
