On Tuesday, Children’s Hospital Los Angeles closed its Center for Transyouth Health and Development. Also this week, children’s hospitals in Connecticut and DC announced that they would be scaling back or discontinuing “gender-affirming care” for minors. This follows a wave of similar announcements that began in January; hospitals in Virgina, Colorado, Delaware and elsewhere have at least paused such treatments under pressure from the Trump administration. Nonprofit health-care giant Kaiser Permanente said on Wednesday that it will halt sex-modification surgeries on people under 19. And last month, of course, in United States v. Skrmetti, the Supreme Court upheld a Tennessee state law “restricting sex transition treatments for minors.”
