I can't stop thinking about lee from America

Do you remember the OG days of instagram wellness influencers?

I was IN, hook line and sinker. And Lee from America was one of the north stars of the version I followed. From 2015-2018 her beautiful smoothie bowls, coconut fat balls, sweet potato creations, and lots of yoga were all over my feed. It was a simpler time in wellness, highly filtered, in the golden age of photo only instagram. Very MAHA before MAHA without the political connections if you will (which I just learned was a sweetgreen campaign originally).

I personally got very into the Tone it up movement around the same time, which had alot of overlap. I loved the colorful bowls, the creativity, the community and the highly structured workouts and nutrition guides. I still have some of the recipes and alot of friends I met through TIU, but personally found the strict regimens, daily workouts, and intense meal prep too much for me long term.

Back to Lee.

I no longer follow her, but I keep getting glimpses from my periphery. She started taking extended breaks in 2019. She was orthorexic, toxically online, and then she burnt out and disappeared from 2019-2021. She popped back up, with a bowl cut offering interior design services and living in New York. Reinventing herself. A completely new person.
