Gathering insights right before you need them is like moving the day before you host a dinner party. Things won’t be ready and the final product isn’t going to represent the full picture like it needs to. WHY couldn’t my accent chair just come in 2 days sooner?!

Delivery these days, it’s unpredictable. But you know what’s NOT unpredictable? Behavioral patterns. Emphasis on patterns.

In our last few articles, we broke down how to find your primary audience. Where to look, what tools you already have to find them, and how to know when the cheese (your primary audience) has moved. GOTCHA! That’s you, finding your primary audience. Now we’re getting into what to do…once you’ve found them.

It’s called an AUDIT.

A - Always

U - Understanding

D - Data

I - In

T - Time

We sort of invented that acronym, because it’s relevant to what auditing is all about. Auditing is about going into the market and asking a LOT of questions, and making a LOT of observations around a specific audience. Then, taking everything you learned and turning it into something you can actually use to make decisions around marketing to them. Then, a survey or an intentional conversation are simple ways to not only get answers but confirm insights. Until you know, for sure, what your audience needs at this moment in time.

Sharing all of that good info with your team along the way is what keeps everyone aligned throughout the process. You know what they say about assumptions…

In our next article, we’re jumping EVEN further into research, audience insights, and unmet needs.

Until then,
