The Couch-Rug Pairings I Can't Get Enough Of

Picking the right rug color is daunting. It's not cheap, and it basically decides the whole mood of your living room — especially once you factor in the couch it has to live with. Sure, there's more to a space than the couch-rug duo — flooring, art, coffee table, drapery — but let's be honest, those two pieces are usually the biggest players in the room, and they set the tone.

Go neutral and you get that quiet, sophisticated thing. Go bold — a color that “talks” to your couch — and suddenly your room reads interesting instead of just nice. Here are five combinations I’m loving right now, plus where to buy them:

A deep chocolate brown couch with a chartreuse rug is such a yummy pairing — it deepens the brown while giving enough brightness to the space.
