Can we find this for less?

That is the question I hear a lot from my clients – and I get it. Rent has doubled, groceries cost a small fortune and we're paying $8 for a coffee… So when it comes to decorating our homes, there isn’t always much left in the budget.

If you’re someone who can drop $15,000 on a floor lamp – enjoy that. But you might still want to keep reading, because who doesn’t love saving money, especially when the pieces look just as good.

Side note: I’m a big advocate for vintage. If you’re hunting for a dining table or chairs, check out pre-owned pieces first. I wrote about my favorite vintage and antique shops in NYC here.
Local art and furniture markets – like the BQE fleamarket, on once a month through October – or prop stylists’ sales are another good source. I found the plushiest (and unused!) rug at Jason Saft’s warehouse sale and a handmade statement vase at Athena Calderone’s.

That aside, here's a few online finds that punch above their price:

DINING ROOM

1. your dinner guests will 100% want to know where you got this bar tool set

2. set the table with this warm yellow table cloth

4. these embroidered coasters might be the most impractical thing on this list, and I don't care

KITCHEN

1. these tea towels come in a bunch of color options, I really like the yellow

2. classic but always works

3. every kitchen needs a pretty bowl to store onions and garlic

4. bring in a little summer vibe with this striped linen cloth

5. I can never have too many bowls - ask my boyfriend

6. gingham galore with these placemats

7. I love the texture of this rattan bowl, perfect for fruit and veggies

BEDROOM

1. a runner that adds some warmth and the slightest pop of color

2. these cushions are the accent your bed's been missing

3. this table lamp does all the work for a cozy ambiance

4. a basket always comes in handy to store extra blankets and pillows

5. the twisted detail on this candle holder drew me in

6. can you tell I’m obsessed with embroidery and lace?

7. didn’t know I could care that much about rim colors, but here we are

LIVING ROOM

1. this goes hand in hand with my bowl obsession: vases - especially this one

2. sometimes the frame is more important than the art, and this is proof

3. I love adding velvet, especially in the form of pillow cases

4. this one is nice too for some texture and depth

5. the details on this mirror frame are what got me

6. get cozy with this lambswool throw

7. again… need I say more?

8. the kind of box you don't mind leaving out on the coffee table

BATHROOM

1. these hand towels by Pierce & Ward add the right amount of color

2. … and they also did great with this bath mat

3. I warned you already – these lace towels are just dreamy

4. a waste bin deserves to be pretty too

5. add some extra light with this portable lamp

6. I have these in my bathroom - very good Tekla dupe

7. you know what’s up by now
