Sava asked me to create a website to showcase his short films. A key idea was to have a quickly loading silent showreel, a nice alternative to hosting the video on other platforms. Inspired by beautiful simplicity seen on Brutalist Websites , I created a sober layout with only 5 direct children: two contact details, one about me section, one films section, and a central showreel. The showreel fits…
We all have a pile of books at home we won't be opening for the next few months at least, years at most. An unopen book collecting dust is a book in stasis, in hiatus, when it should be opened, folded, read, flicked, bookmarked. I am working on a list of all of my books on a CSV file, to make them available to be lended to a restricted circle. Knowledge is a tool for liberation. As such, this…
Libertaire Imaginaries is a set of two publications on the question of anarchist design. They are part of a project for my Master's thesis. The research is attempting to lay out the groundwork for the following questions: How can we activate new emancipating libertaire imaginaries through graphic design? How can we shape the anarchist/ic image in a way that eludes institutional appropriation? How…
Walkmanisms is a year-long design school project around the Walkman and portable cassette players and how they changed the way we experience music and listening in general. It includes three texts centered around the topic with the main one being The Walkman Effect by Shuhei Hosokawa. The layout is asymmetrical and left-aligned with an uneven right edge, and the literary references sit on the…
Motic means More Than I Can Chew. It's a typeface I started in september 2020 and still haven't finished on account of it being... more than I can chew. Motic is based on Centaur by Bruce Rogers and attempts to keep the oldstyle look and stress, but with a more angular shape and semi-ink trap serifs to modernise it. Motic will be released under a SIL Open Font License
The zine is my first collection of sketches done entirely using Processing and p5js, tools for creative coding for visual art. After writing the codes (most of which - and others - can be found here) I compiled the visual results into a zine intended to be printed on low opacity paper for the best mash-up results. This project could be characterized with one word: experimentation. Going out of…
Throughout 2021, the webzine DIY Conspiracy released 12 compilation tapes with a total of 208 international underground punk bands. Volume 3 released in March, bringing with it 40 minutes of raw DIY punk energy oscillating across several genres. Far from commercial design, the task wasn't to make the tape sell more copies. Instead, I was asked to embrace the spirit of DIY Conspiracy all while…
Atchi, a musician from Sofia, Bulgaria, asked me to create the cover for INTER, a banger of an album where no energy is left spared. Thanks for releasing this, Atchi. The compressed and overdriven sound of Atchi's music, coupled with his loud and abrasive voice, deserved a noisy and bold environment to thrive in. The extended typeface gives a cold and clean-cut balance to the visual chaos of the…
Remont #2 is an experiment made in August 2020. In February 2020 I created the first edition as a complement to my solo poster exhibition at Gifted Sofia. The second edition was opened up to include graphic artists of the Sofia underground that I invited. I then arranged their works and mine following a visual progression, and laid out the zine. The publication is a 24-page A5 with a focus on…
In 2020 I had the opportunity to collaborate with the collective and label Amek on the cover for Stoyan Yovchev - Omori's new EP Embryogenesis. The trust I was given only made the process more enjoyable, as creating a visual metaphor of Omori's ambient but texture-rich music wasn't an easy task. The noisy yet digital texture conveys the harshness that comes with anything digital, in which warm and…
