Touring from New York to LA to Boston to Providence to meet my readers IRL and get them excited about Dekonstructing the Kardashians was unlike anything I’ve ever experienced. I felt so alive! I astonished my friends by staying out late to socialize after my events, took genuine pleasure in the revelation that people really do love — and, in some other cases, hate — my book, surfed surges of adrenaline to get through camera interviews, and pushed myself to do more, more, more even when I thought I couldn’t move one more muscle! My partner and I enjoyed many amazing meals. We were in and out of different hotel rooms, taking Baby Blue wherever we went.

We also soaked in the distinct vibes curated by all the independent bookstores we saw and realized hope is not lost: some local shops continue to thrive as community hubs.

Looking back on all this, even when I was terrified or tired, I was really happy.
