Note: I have arrived in Pennsylvania! Transport with cats was remarkably smooth and now we get into the business of settling into this next chapter of our life. I will (probably) not be commenting on much on this side of the pond (for now) as I observe and reflect. One thing I cannot help but notice (and maybe it’s just where I’ve been) is that there is a surprising lack of propaganda. In Scotland (and Glasgow in particular) I could not turn a corner or go into a shop without seeing a flag of some variety (not Scottish mind you. but everything else under the sun). The messaging is a constant pressure point all around you. Only in leaving do you realise it was there all the while. What impact that has on our children? We can only imagine.

Cats have settled into their new home. My old dolls house circa 1976. Note: Cindy furniture (remember Cindy dolls?)

In the meantime I have a huge backlog of *things* to report on from Scotland (still)….

I have come to believe (as written about by many not least Jennifer Bilek ) that the machinations of gender are part of a global restructure of our societies. What better way to manifest power structures and allegiances than by a new societal stratification propagandised by our cultural bodies and manifested by our medical and pharmaceutical industries? Our best nature, our willingness to ‘do the right thing’ can be weaponised just as they mine our children’s minds and body parts. This Frankenstein hellscape is already unleashing monsters into mainstream culture… and healthcare.

Much attention has been riveted by *the* Sandie Peggie case in recent weeks. Sandie is the nurse who launched an employment tribunal against both The National Health Service (NHS) Fife and Dr. Upton in 2024. Upton is a male doctor who insisted on being in the nurses female changing area where Peggie was attempting to manage a particularly bloody menstrual flow in December 2023. Peggie wanted to uphold her right to sex specific spaces, and Dr. Upton asserted as a ‘trans identifying individual’ that this included him.

This farce has cost the tax payer a minimum of £259,000. It has been a veritable roulette of ‘oppression bingo’ as Peggie has been accused of everything from homophobia to Islamaphobia not to mention ‘being unkind’ (gasp!). It has seen misgendering a go go -by those on the side of Upton who fail again and again to remember that he would prefer to go by a she. There have been tears and more drama than the season finale of Dynasty.

Will team reality win, will the right to sex specific spaces be upheld? Up to this point - in other court cases - the answer has been yes. So WHY do our elites continue to double down? Mental illness? Psychosis? Blackmail? It really does beg belief.

And whilst the machine of NHS Fife continues to double down on delusion our arts sector (Chief Propagandists) predictably follows suit…..

Scottish Museum chief executives have claimed that sex specific toilet rules ‘may force museums to close…’. stating further “We have concerns that the content and process of the EHRC Code of Practice does not uphold the spirit of inclusion. There is no guidance on how to include trans people, there is only information on how to exclude them. This has not made sufficient effort to offer advice to organisations who wish to remain or become trans-inclusive.

As I have stated (and often) one does not pee with one’s *idea* of oneself, one pees with one’s actual physical biology in the here and now which is (incidentally) binary. What museums are asserting is that visitors uphold the lie of synthetic sex. But here’s the thing: will the impending economic failure of the Scottish cultural sector be spun as ‘anti-trans hysteria’? Watch this space.

We saw how the ‘Arts Sector’ reacted to the recent rulings which clarified how ‘woman’ is defined in law in the court case For Women Scotland vs. Scottish Government. Predictably much hyperbolic hysteria was thrown about as the elite class were told they also had to respect the boundary of sex. (what? drama from the ‘drama sector’ well colour me shocked!). They even went as far as to pen an open letter to the Equality and Human Rights Committee ‘from the Culture Sector’.

The open letter said: “We believe the ruling undermines the lived reality* and threatens the safety of trans, non-binary, and intersex people living in the UK.”

*Reality? These individuals may be good actors (may being the operative word), and the good ones will do copious research in developing their characters for stage and screen. In the instance of this ruling, however, they are showing their deep ignorance. And this will harm not just their credibility but those people they purport to protect. I would suggest that ignorance has become common parlance in our Scottish arts sector and in particular our youth sector as ‘lived experience’ trumps any sense of responsibility to the legacy of the past or foundation building. So perhaps it’s no surprise.

The boundary of sex will come for you regardless of whether you want it or not, as bodies have evolved over many many many years as sexually dimorphic . Trans and non-binary (identities) gather their strength through the co-opting of others. We saw how trans activists piggy backed onto gay rights despite sexual attraction being cancelled out by the idea that sex is not real. In the cultural sector statement they leech other’s challenges for their own benefit yet again by…. co-opting intersex.

Intersex is a DSD, a disorder of sexual development. Ironically: biological, which is what trans activists rally against. In the case of Intersex the individual remains genetically male OR female, there is no third/in-between sex. Intersex individuals physiological development may result in their external sexual organs *appearing* to be the opposite sex. That said they are still male OR female. Not a ‘third sex’. This is how Olympic Athlete Caster Semenya fathered two children via artificial insemination. (ALSO: it just occurred to me that his name is SEMEN-ya. Crazy eh?).

Intersex people largely want to separate from the trans debate. Much of the more recent conversations around intersex is how individuals born with intersex conditions can live without chemical or surgical interventions. It doesn’t seem they are as organised as political movement (nor want to be) as trans activists and perhaps that has to do with the small numbers that fit into the category: .018%.

That aside, it didn’t stop Scottish Government from dedicating a whole section regarding Intersex conditions in their updated comprehensive sexual health guidance (RSHP). One might suggest it was to lend more credence to young minds that the idea that one *may be* secretly intersex! There are approximately 697,786 children enrolled in primary and secondary schools in Scotland. That would equate to 126 children in the whole school estate who *may* be intersex. But considering that many will not realise their condition until they try to pro-create the actual number diagnosed (and ‘struggling’) are probably much less. With 1988 primary schools and 361 secondary schools across Scotland dedicating such attention to these matters seems misplaced. Then again, this movement lacks all practicality.

Embibing synthetic hormones will not turn you into the opposite sex anymore than clicking your heels together and saying ‘there is no place like home’ will transport you from the Emerald City back to Kansas.

This was not a documentary

As I have often pointed out - supporting someone in the delusion of the opposite sex is not kind. One of the most shocking but utterly predictable studies to emerge from academia in recent months looks at individuals who suffer ‘gender dysmorphia’ who received surgery versus those who did not. And SURPRISE chopping bits of one’s body off does not, in fact, lead one to eternal euphoria we might be led to believe. !

It’s an utterly tragic turn of events as those of us still in receipt of common sense have been saying this very thing since day dot.

“Those who received surgery had an "elevated risk of mental health disorders—including depression, anxiety, suicidal ideation, and substance use disorder" compared to those who did not undergo surgery.”

We are talking about people who believe the reality of their body is wrong. It’s a nonsensical idea which only leads to more nonsensical damage. Another powerful letter to come upon my desk was penned by one Dr. Chrysostom who has challenged the General Medical Council in its adoption of ‘vaginoplastys’.

In my previous post I alluded to the ‘trans creation’ of ‘THE Jo Clifford’ as being part of the root and branches of wrong sex ideology in Scottish theatre. Jo had been a relatively well regarded playwright. He had married, fathered children and then when his wife died he finally found his ‘female voice’ in middle age. He states he ‘always knew he was really a woman on the inside’.

John Clifford has become the poster child for ‘trans acceptance’ for the National Theatre of Scotland. Led by Jackie Wylie (who I wrote about before) who got her start at The Arches with LJ Findlay-Walsh.

LJ Findlay-Walsh grew up with Jo Clifford. She played with his kids. Hung out in his house. Formed loyalties and allegiances. LJ is now the leading programmers of trans theatre in Scotland. She is the Artistic Director of ‘Take Me Somewhere’ who frame themselves as the ‘showcase for the most cutting-edge contemporary performance makers’. Here is the make up of the artists they support from their companies house statement.

According to the UK census only .5% of the UK population is trans. Yet TMS claims FORTY SIX PERCENT of the artists they work with are trans (or non binary). That’s a NINETY TWO TIMES MORE over the national average.

You may recall I highlighted a performance at the Edinburgh International Festival ‘Dan Daw’ in my last post. Dan Daw has cystic fibrosis and is disabled. I posit that he uses his disability as a means to justify the creation of a live porn show (which his porn addled brain gets off on) for an international audience and re-frames it as ‘empowered’. (‘Take a stand against ableism’!)

TMS is also featuring Dan Daw in their upcoming performance festival. Interestingly all the ‘juicy’ bits that were in the Edinburgh International Festival Program have been scrubbed instead including ‘content notes: This show is still in development and further content warnings may be added ahead of the performance’. For those who missed the EIF content:

That TMS does not include above is not in character for the organisation. They were behind the porn film ‘Rein’ which received over £120k of public funds towards its creation.

They also installed the ‘trans queer pillow’ in Princes Square in Glasgow for toddlers to ‘get horny’ with as part of their last festival.

Based at the Glasgow City Council managed venue, The Tramway, Take Me Somewhere gets multi-year funding from Scottish Government. Scroll through their website and you will see all the elite phrasing associated with the new social order: Queer, diversity, neurodivergence, colonialism, ‘radical self care’, queer, more queer, a bit of privilege etc etc etc. One might be forgiven to think that words like ‘diverse’ actual mean what they say - the truth is - the program and political positioning is found before the shows are even booked. Audiences attend for validation as narcissistic and deviant narratives are woven like mirrors.

These are not theatre shows, these are rituals of validation for believers.

And so when Dr. Upton asserts the validity of his position to declare himself female he is applauded by people so far down the rabbit hole to not know what reality is anymore. They can obfuscate with language of social justice, kindness and cultural appropriation to render the ‘normal’ (ie. working people) speechless who have no such freedom to play but very much face the consequences of the decision.

But truth will out as they say. Publicly funded art, like much of our public support structures, are facing increasingly pressures for survival. Mayhaps a silver lining in all this is that these elite castles will come crashing down allowing for better art to populate. Let’s hope anyway.

Bloodletting: When Scottish Arts Embraced Deviance

June 10, 2025

This is part three of my dive into the capture of the Scottish Arts Scene into platforms for propaganda for the Scottish Government. Part One (The Transvestite Who Helped Stage the Ideological Takeover of Scotland) can be read here and Part Two (The Racism of Scottish Theatre: Did Jackie Wylie know what she was getting into?)
