Boxes

Robert sat in his box.

Robert got bored of his box, so he turned on his box and began to watch it.

Robert got bored of that box, too; he pulled out of his pocket another box and looked at that instead.

The third box was also rather uninteresting, so he began primarily to watch the second box, while intermittently looking at the third.

His predicament was that whenever he pulled out the third box, and looked at it, and pocketed it again, he would forget what was on the third box, and so he had to look at the third box twice before returning his attention once more to the second box.

Once the interplay between the second and third boxes had lost its novelty, Robert turned his attention back to the first box — the one he sat in. He noticed he was rather lonely in his box. He could, he thought, go outside his box and into another box which he would pilot to yet another box of a similar type to the first in which would be someone to sit in a box with. That might make sitting in a box a little less lonely.

Of course, he’d have to use the third box to get in touch with their third box to see if it was okay to get in the fourth box and go to their first box.

Maybe they were even watching their second box.

They might even be quite engrossed in it.

To draw their attention away from their second box to their third might irritate them.

So, Robert sat in his box.
