The launch of THE MIDNIGHT MOTH

Today is a big day for me and Katy.

I wanted to let you know that The Midnight Moth Kickstarter is now LIVE. This is your chance to pre-order the book before its very first print run.

To make printing and independent publication possible, we need 225 people to pre-order within the next 30 days. If we reach that number, the book goes to print and arrives in your hands. If we don’t, no money is taken from anyone. That’s how Kickstarter works, it’s community publishing in action. It’s all or nothing.

What you’re pre-ordering

The Midnight Moth began fifteen years ago on the number 86 bus between Chorlton and Manchester, scribbled in a notebook during stolen half-hours, written by a tired parent who believed stories could hold light in dark places. It waited through jobs, children, illness, doubt, and a long stretch where I genuinely thought it might never be finished.

Last year, after a spell in hospital, the book came back into sharp focus. It turned out it wasn’t finished with me.

Now it exists as something you will be able to hold: a picture book about endings, courage, imagination, and the gentle ways children can be part of saying goodbye.

The book doesn’t stop at the end of the story. It opens into creative prompts where children can help Moona and Luno design a tiny memorial ceremony for the Midnight Moth, choosing symbols and sounds. It’s a doorway into the kind of honest, imaginative conversations about death that we hope for every family.
