Horses for Courses

Hello FRIENDS, it has been several moments since I (LV) was here with you in the quiet reverence of our MORTAL PORTAL.

Lots has been going happening for team DEAD GOOD. We had a great time delivering our first online lecture-event-talk-zoom last week, and tonight is the first pilot session of QUILTY PLEASURES making and story-sharing community. And, excitingly, we have been shortlisted for a prestigious Association for the Study of Death and Society Award for our work raising public awareness around the issues of death, dying, grief and loss. WOOO! It feels fantastic to be nominated, crazy-good to be shortlisted as a finalist and, if we win, I will probably expire.

In my windowless garage studio I have been working on a new limited edition item for our shop. I try to produce one very small run of Memento Mori artworks per season, and our paying subscribers will get a sneako peako at what’s on my workbench at the end of this Portal piece.

YES! thanks for reminding me. If you missed last week’s online talk HAND-ME-DOWN HISTORIES: The Art of Reusing Heirloom Textiles, you can now watch the recording on our website here. There is a one off fee of £20 to access our video content (just Hand-Me-Down Histories to date). We will upload more of our offerings as we go and build a lovely video library of resources. We will also be launching some DEAD GOOD ‘courses’ later this year. These have been in the pipeline for a while and we are excited to share our knowledge and experience with you in this way. We haven’t settled on our final course titles yet – and it’s all still in the making – but it’s a bubbling cauldron of knowledge-broth. We’ll let you know when it’s ready to be served.
