Catch a Little Sun is a collection of kid-friendly songs inspired by my wonder-filled son, Rachel Carson’s Sense of Wonder, boats on the sidewalk, bad apples & more….

It’s crazy to think that this is my 14th release since I started putting out music 21 years ago and somehow it still feels just as scary and exciting to release songs out there into the world.

Here’s what someone who I trust had to say...

My first draft of the song “Little Red Boat” featured my young daughter sweetly singing along, here she is on the demo.

Both of my kids sang with me on the album for a cover of Pete and Toshi Seeger’s Turn, Turn, Turn. I once sang this to a classroom of 2nd graders and was so moved to hear their little voices singing along. I love especially love this verse

A time for work, a time for play
A time for night, a time for day
A time to sleep, a time to wake
A time for candles on the cake

Since COVID, I’ve released two projects that were recorded remotely piece-by-piece. This was my first time back in the studio working on an album in person and I loved every minute of it. Joseph Terrell (Mipso) producer and guitarist extraordinaire, brought such great vibes and then add Sean Trishka (drums), Alex Bingham (bass), Creighton Irons (keys), Matt Douglass (horns), Will Ridenour (kora) and come on! What a fun crew!

I played a good bit of ukulele on this album, all thanks to the Nashville Public Library and their “Library of Things” collection. Depending on where you are in the world, you too can borrow tools, toys, and maybe even ukuleles from your local library!

Thanks for giving it a spin! I hope you’ll find time to enjoy it with your favorite little people. Hope to see you out at a show if I’m anywhere near you this summer!
