Philip, Apostle of the Holy Spirit
Saint Philip Neri was a true apostle of Jesus Christ to many people during his long life.
He brought hope and healing to the sick in hospitals through humble acts of service.
He brought many people to repentance for their sins, reconciling them to the Church and God.
He taught Catholics how to pray and sing and feast as pilgrims here on earth.
He gave wise spiritual advice to the poor and the rich, to widows and cardinals, in language they could understand.
He inspired his Oratorian priests to seek holiness in their own lives and to spread the Good News all over the world.
He revitalized the city of Rome during one of the darkest periods of the Church.
And he died in great peace at the age of seventy-nine, fittingly enough on the feast of Corpus Christi.
Come Holy Spirit, and make me a saint of joy, just like Saint Philip Neri.
