Trumpy’s Hamburger Socialism

Yes, Trumpy, there certainly is an inflation problem when it comes to hamburger and steak. But it’s also exactly the kind of problem that the free market was invented to solve.

Let us explain because self-evidently the Donald does not have a whit of comprehension about how free markets function, nor any inclination to embrace them for a very self-evident reason. To wit, the free market doesn’t credit or praise “Trump” for anything because its salutatory outcomes are the product of free exchange among thousands and even millions of producers, consumers, traders and investors.

By contrast, the clumsy and usually counter-productive interventions and manipulations of the state always and everywhere get a name. It is often that of their legislative or executive author. And in the Donald’s case that personalization of state power has been taken to an absurd extreme.

Even the leftists have gotten it right for once with their “No Kings” incantations. The fact is, Trumpy’s ego is so enormous—-nay, Brobdingnagian—that he may as well adopt Louis XIV’s mantra and be done with it:

“L’État, c’est moi”(I am the state).

In fact, the infamous quote above is the key to the dog’s breakfast of nonsense otherwise known of Trump-O-Nomics. The latter bears no policy rhyme, reason or consistency but, instead, simply reflects the glandular expectorations of the Donald’s desperate and relentless need for attention, credit and adulation.
