It’s been a wee while since my last newsletter, so I wanted to get in touch to share some updates on what I’ve been up to recently. Please take a look and feel free to get in touch if you would like more info.

I currently have a solo exhibition of new work at Moray Art Centre in Findhorn until 17th Dec. Hopefully you can make it along if you’re in the area.

I have been working with materials collected from the shoreline around Findhorn, exploring erosion of the coast and the human made structures placed there.

Combining screen printed imagery from the coast with sand, charcoal, roots, concrete and steel found during a research visit, the presented assemblage works explore material reciprocities in the landscape, the temporality of place and entanglement of designed and organic systems.
I’ve also used salvaged admiralty charts and plywood which I have CNC’d shapes of sea fastenings from, reimagining these industrial forms as frames, shelves and potential symbols. I first encountered the sea fastening shapes in Shetland and have repurposed them for works in Lerwick and Bergen. This series completes a triangulation of sorts, concluding a triptych of projects exploring these artefacts.

Closer to home, I’ll be showing a new collage work as part of Edinburgh Printmakers Members Show which opens next Friday 15th Dec, 6.30 - 8.30pm.

I’m excited to have pieces from my Mapping Eigg series included in the Scottish Design Galleries at the V&A in Dundee. The works are a result of my first major residency project back in 2014,  where I worked with Dr Alice Street (Edinburgh University) to examine how maps are perceived and used on the island. You can see more of the original project here

They will be nestled between models of Dounreay and the Falkrik wheel for the next few years, so keep an eye out if you’re visiting.

Earlier this year I was invited to collaborate with Paulin watches to create a bespoke clock collection. For my design I returned to the tram track motif I’ve previously explored, deconstructing the shape into linear motifs.

I’m very excited to be moving into a studio at Edinburgh Sculpture Workshop. I'll be there from the start of February, so if you happen to be passing or would like to arrange a visit please drop me a line.

I’ll be sad to leave my current space at Good Vibes (in pic), but I’m planning a studio sale event there as a last hurrah and to hopefully make the move a little lighter! This will be on Saturday 27th January, so please save the date and come along to say hello/goodbye/grab a bargain.
