Our headline news:
A Little Pretzel for Free, Lucky Me!
Next to my coffee, as I chose to drink in
A little pretzel was placed
Unexpected addition to my caffeine mission
It brought such a smile to my face!
It’s the little things, as we regularly say
Like an unexpected pretzel coming your way!
I had a morning coffee with a new friend in a new cafe this week (the coffee pictured is theirs - I gulped mine too greedily to take a good picture!). The coffee was delicious, the company was lovely and, best of all, we were given a little chocolate pretzel with our drinks! It was a most pleasant surprise which tasted very nice!
In other news:
Not Much Better than a Floating Siesta!
Bill in feathers, head tucked in
Still afloat, not wanting to swim
The water birds stayed nice and cool
Dozing away in the afternoon!
What tremendous, joyous luck
To be a sleeping, floating duck!
Walking by a pond, I saw ducks collected by the side taking a nap. I fear I disturbed them in taking my picture but fear not, straight back to sleep they went! They were in the most enviable position of floating away calmly, snoozing in the afternoon sun. I hope they awoke refreshed and quacking!
And finally…
A Beautiful Piece Stopped Me in the Street!
On a sweltering summer’s day
I felt as though it was raining
The brilliance of a painting
Transported me through space
I had to pause whilst on my way
In quiet, deep admiration
In indulgence of what I was facing
I simply stood in place
I love the feeling of seeing a piece of art that truly moves you. On a sleepy, too-hot afternoon I walked past a closed restaurant with this painting over its doors. There was no name I could see attached to it, to my regret, but no matter - I believe that when art moves somebody, the artist receives their energy. I found this painting beautiful; the strength of its character took me away to somewhere distinctly different. I loved spending awhile in its presence.
EDIT: A lovely reader has found the artist, Dan Kitchener! https://www.dankitchener.com/street-art-murals
Going into this week:
I feel as though every week, I’ve said something about having a lot to do, wanting to do it to the best of my ability and putting one foot in front of the other. I’m not about to fix what ain’t broke! It is, indeed, another busy week ahead. I am very proud of myself for showing up fully during each of those preceding this one, and I will continue to do so with gratitude. To another week of work and whimsy!
Thank you for being here.
Whatever you’re doing this week, I hope you have a wonderful one.
