I'm Always There

I wake, I'm there.

I walk, I'm there.

I sit down to learn something new, I'm there.

I just can't shake myself, I'm there.

I'm not taking about the the me that's me.

I'm talking about the me that isn't me.

The me that collects my discarded dreams, ideas and regrets.

The me that holds on to all of these and squeezes.

I try to be happy with what I have.

The me that isn't me is always there to remind me...

About what? About what I don't have.

I don't know who this me is.

Is it a friend?

What is my relationship to this me?

I don't know, yet I'm there.

Sometimes when I try to forget I'm there,

I feel a heavy hand push onto my chest. It's my own.

Breathing is harder, being is harder. I'm there.

But I won't let me get the best of me.

After all; I'm me.

Hey! Quiet me! I'm busy here.

I'm trying to live! You should try it instead of being me.
