old news? new news? doesn’t matter. reddit is DAOifying their community in the best way: subtly.
newsflash: if crypto was a rockstar it would be in full PR crisis mode right now. fear is rampant, rug pulls galore, & existential questions populate even the most optimistic crypto twitter thought leaders’ timelines
take: DAO talk studios believes DAO tech adoption will come with communities growing organically alongside crypto. web3 should not & cannot be forced down the throats of the unwilling. think about the 1st moment you finally ‘got’ web3/crypto/DAOs: magic, right? we need to create more environments for magic moments & we think pre-existing web2 internet communities like reddit are ripe for the next wave of web3 adoption.

We believe wholeheartedly that some of the strongest use cases for DAOs are public goods. Allowing communities to decentralize the economics of philanthropy can facilitate rapid social reaction and mutualist movement, often with remarkable effects.

in a world of centralized institutions we often assume that the state is the only group that can provision meaningful public goods in a decentralized world, any local community (even digitally) should be able to provision their shared needs in a pluralistic and mutualist way

EIP-5805: Voting with delegation
6:34 PM · Jan 9, 2023
10 Reposts · 23 Likes
background: DAOs rely on tokens to determine voting power. token contracts have processes to ensure voting power can be accurately determined. problem is, these processes aren’t standardized. dangers include addresses double voting, only being able to delegate by fully transferring ownership of the token to the delegate, and more headaches!
EIP-5805 aims to standardize these processes to make forming organizations on-chain more uniform & less confusing. LFG.

we stan DAOs making it as easy as possible to contribute, govern, and operate.
if you’ve ever created a proposal you know how confusing it can be if you’re not familiar with the process. as one of the largest operating DAOs, Uni is setting an excellent example on how to activate your community & make it as easy as possible to have their voice heard.
