New Music Adds Aug. 3, 2026
Hello! Today I’m traveling on a Celebrity cruise ship from Amsterdam to Cork, Ireland. It’s a day at sea in which we gain an hour but I’m still not sure what the correct time is! Anyway, since I’ve been out of the country meeting up with old friends and recent ones like fellow Substackers Andres and Mark Nash I’m mostly diving into familiar new music. I’ve added two songs to my 2026 Contenders Playlist by artists well past their 80th birthdays! Check them out!
Peaches – Carly Simon
With her recent announcement that she has Parkinson’s Disease and some recent cancer scares I am thrilled Carly Simon still has time to record new music. I’ve already highlighted her single Howl which has become one of my songs of the summer. Her upcoming album, Comes in Waves, will drop on August 14th but she’s released another single called Peaches. It’s another winner that is both quirky and provocative. The lyrics concern having things that you wish you loved more than you do, like peaches! The production is stellar too.
Mr. Charm – The Rolling Stones
I’m loving several cuts off the Stones’ latest Foreign Tongues. I’ve already discussed You Know I’m No Good and Never Wanna Lose You. This is another uptempo rocker in the great tradition of the band’s own style. Here’s an interview with Mick Jagger discussing Mr. Charm:
Here’s the visualizer video of the song:
