Greenland Is Not Ours To Take

Somehow, in the span of a single year, the piece of crap who is the president of the United States has pushed our growing economy and unified world order to the brink of economic and military disaster. He has also turned the United States into a fully-qualified police state.

It is not like we did not try warning voters ahead of time of the dangers, or that the man running to unseat Joe Biden was an unknown quantity. For some strange reason, just enough of the American electorate voted for pandemonium and chaos, which is what they should have expected from this known quantity of a candidate. However, folks who had already suffered under the lash of his overt incompetence during the pandemic, decided to vote again for that creature, as a battered wife returns to an abusive husband.

Since then the United States economy has begun to fray, and the economic impact is about to get worse. Universities have been blackmailed into doing the bidding of a criminal White House, media are even normalizing fringe conspiracy theories. This is particularly true of CBS, for which I used to file reports, myself, in my field-journalism days. During their Sunday morning program this week, they interviewed supporters of the government’s military invasion of Minneapolis-St. Paul, which is allegedly rooting out criminals and the ‘worst of the worst’. Suddenly, the uber-right-wing “great replacement theory” was a mainstream item. Never mind that it is complete conspiratorial bullshit, but the parent of CBS, Paramount, made a deal with our fascist president; now the White House has its own people in the CBS newsroom.

I am disgusted by what I see; I am even more disgusted by how many Americans are silent, neutral or just “don’t know”. To be blunt, I view anyone who voted for this man after January 6, 2021 as a seditionist-supporting fascist or a complete and incompetent moron. The Republican Party - why it is still called that is mystifying - has become a group of pusillanimous sycophants, so terrified of their own MAGA base they choose to cower and snivel while the republic falls.

Now we have this imperialism from on high, where for no reason whatsoever - ignore all the pretense, as it is pure manure - that we must take control of Greenland. We must own it. However, Greenland is not ours to take, and no amount of political cajoling can justify any action to take it.

European leaders are rightly alarmed, but we as American citizens need to speak up and make our voices heard, quite loudly. It is the very reason I felt impelled to write this piece this morning, despite enormous time constraints that have kept me from the scribe’s table for too long.

The fact of the matter is this: Any attempt by the United States to take Greenland is wrong, it is illegal, it violates international law, and it threatens to completely upend the entire U.S. economy, because, in case you had not noticed, the U.S. is massively in debt.

The Republicans passage of their big beautiful bill guaranteed us a new level of deficit, and with all that paper hanging over us, what do you think will happen if foreign powers and business leaders decide the U.S. T-bills are too risky, and sell? Interest rates will soar. That is what will happen.

Who will invest in American companies? Looking at the stock market performance on Tuesday, as our imperialistic and criminally insane president gave a meandering and bizarre news conference at the White House before departing for Davos, Switzerland, it seems the appeal of American business investment is now questionable.

If the Supreme Court rules that the White House can arbitrarily fire governors on the Federal Reserve Board - they hear arguments today about Lisa Cook, fired via social media post, no less, for alleged “cause” - watch what happens to interest rates and America’s debt. Without an independent Fed, we can be assured this White House will force interest rates so low as to trigger inflationary armageddon.

The damage done to this country from 2017 through 2020 was enormous. Unless something is done to stop this official rogue and remove him from office, or blunt his ability to do anything, at the very least, I fear the U.S. will eventually just take Greenland, and in the aftermath of that action, and in the face of the ground work established in just the first year of this rogue administration, we will watch the economy stall, inflation rise, store shelves empty of critical wares and, by Christmas, the holidays will hardly be a time for happiness. Military police will make sure we do not show our displeasure, under threat of summary execution.

Republicans have little integrity left, and it is remarkable how they have been silent about Greenland, at least in public, until now. House Speaker Mike Johnson, a political perfidy if ever there was one, gave an address to the British parliament Tuesday, in which he made the U.S. case for national security around Greenland. He was the first house speaker to address parliament; he may also be the last.

There was a reason we had put a rules-based world order in place after World War II; the best way for us to have maintained that would have been to keep supporting Ukraine’s efforts against Russia’s invasion, continue transitioning our economy to more sustainable energy production - the rest of the world is doing this, with or without us, by the way - and renegotiate the Trans-Pacific Partnership, which President Obama had secured in 2015 as a counter to China’s influence.

Dipshit, during his first term, tore up that agreement. Now, with his criminal efforts globally, particularly around Greenland, are matching his criminality in the U.S. The president is actually driving former allies away and into the arms of China! Canada just inked a deal.

WTF?! This is American greatness?!!!

Greenland does not belong to us. If the White House and the band of criminals running this nation are not stopped, America will no longer belong to us, either.
