Making autumn Genmojis has brought me a ridiculous amount of joy this week.
This publication is called Make It Good, so today I’m sharing something other than a recipe: something very silly that’s been making life feel a little more good lately, even in the midst of so much heartache..
I kept sending them to my sister and mom, and neither of them had any idea you could make your own emojis. Which made me feel better because, plot twist, my husband works for Apple and apparently I am still wildly behind the curve.
When I showed my 9-year-old she basically said, “Yeah, duh Mom. How did you not know that?” Cool. Thanks.
So this is for my fellow 40+ holiday lovers who have spent years wondering why our autumn emoji options are so sad. Like WHY have we only been given a jack-o’-lantern? Sometimes I just want a beautiful normal pumpkin! 🎃
I’ve now made pumpkins, cider, pie, autumn trees… and naturally wandered straight into Christmas. And the Ryan-themed Santa makes me giggle every single time.
If you want to make your own, open your text messages and tap on the + sign to the left of the message box. Select “Genmoji” in the dropdown menu and try one of these prompts:
Trio of white pumpkins with stems and a leaf
3 orange pumpkins on the vine
Pumpkin Pie with maple leaf cookies on top
Hot apple cider with donut
Autumn tree, realistic leaves
White pumpkin on vine
Orange pumpkin on vine
Apples in wheelbarrow
Apple press with an apple next to it
And for fun: Christmas Mug with hot cocoa and marshmallows
The more specific you are about the little details, the better they get. And now I fear I may never use a normal emoji again. 😂🍁
