I used to think being everywhere meant I was doing something right.
If my calendar was full, if I was getting invited, if I had something to post and something going live, I thought that meant the business was working. And for a while, it was.
That version of me built a lot. She said yes all the time. She moved fast. She figured things out as she went. She turned outfit photos into a career before anyone was handing out playbooks for that.
But almost 14 years in, I can admit something younger me would have hated hearing: some of the things I thought made me successful are not the things I would tell someone to do now.
That’s the weird part about building a career online. You can be successful and still be operating from an old version of yourself.
So these are the things I’ve changed my mind about.
