Launching: Camacho's Short Account

Dear Committed Readers,

I’m back! I’ve decided to refocus my inactive newsletter and, after much planning, I’ll be launching Camacho’s Short Account later this week. This publication will be my home for short reflections on faith, philosophy, and culture. You can find more details here.

Among other things, I’ve spent the past few years researching and writing my book on Bartolomé de las Casas while juggling various day jobs to support myself financially. It’s been a time-consuming project. I’ve read virtually everything Las Casas wrote. I applied for every conceivable grant to buy myself more time, but nothing worked out. So, it’s been a slog, to say the least.

Although I’m still writing the manuscript, I’ve reached a stage where I’m ready to write shorter posts on other topics again. I came to the realization that I need another outlet to balance out this massive multi-year project. I have other things to say and, contrary to concerned observers, I’m still very much alive!

Enter Camacho’s Short Account. This is a separate thing from my book and will have a life of its own. Posts will be short and on different topics related to seeking the sacred beyond oppressive structures and trying to thrive in perilous times. Occasionally, there might be an overlap in themes (e.g. Christianity and colonialism), but this publication won’t be a repository for the book’s arcane research notes.

Rest assured though, once the book is done and ready for the world, I’ll provide updates so you can be in the know.

To those of you who’ve been following my writing for some time, thank you for your patience and loyalty! To newcomers, welcome!
