Welcome back to Ask the Capricorn, my monthly advice column where your questions meet equal parts astrology, intuition, and Capricorn-level realism. This edition, we're talking about building a business that actually feels like you, making peace with Mercury retrograde, and whether there's such a thing as perfect astrological timing for a rebrand. Get ready because this his one is a loooong one!!
Question 01
I’m going to be so honest with you right now: it took time.
But I also have to recognize that my business has been a huuge mirror where my inner world has been reflected back to me in real time. I think the most aligned version of Lunaria is the one you’re seeing today, and if I’m honest, that’s only felt true for about the past year, around the time I started writing this Substack.
When you start a business, you don’t just begin with an idea. You begin with a giant, overwhelming playbook filled with advice about how things are “supposed” to be done. You inherit other people’s success stories, their systems, their launch strategies, their branding rules, their cautionary tales, and all the statistics explaining why your business probably won’t work. And somewhere underneath all of that noise is your own intuition, quietly trying to get a word in.
I think the only way to truly begin hearing it is through experience.
With discernment, patience, and a little self-trust, you can go a very long way. But I also think there’s something incredibly beautiful about the season where nothing feels fully formed yet. When you’re in test-kitchen mode. Trying ingredients and burning a few recipes. Discovering combinations you never would’ve found if you’d simply followed someone else’s instructions.
Looking back now, I can see so much of Year One Daniela still living inside Lunaria. Seeds I planted almost six years ago are only now beginning to sprout. Ideas I abandoned have circled back around with perfect timing. Pinterest posts I made half a decade ago still send people to my website every single week. Nothing is ever wasted.
Sometimes we assume that if something didn’t become successful immediately, it wasn’t meant for us. But creativity has a funny relationship with time. Some ideas need years before the world is ready for them, or before you’re ready to bring them to life.
So if you’re in the stage where your business still feels like an experiment, I hope you don’t rush yourself through it. One day you’ll look back and realize you weren’t “figuring it out.” You were becoming the person capable of building the thing you wanted all along.
Question 02
My hot take is that Mercury retrograde is actually... kind of great.
Maybe it’s my radical optimism speaking, but I genuinely don’t dread Mercury retrograde the way the internet tells me I should. In fact, I usually welcome it.
The first thing I always recommend is finding out where Mercury retrograde is happening in your chart. Which house is it moving through? That’s where the whole thing is unfolding.
For me, this retrograde is happening in my 12th house, and even though it’s only been a couple of days, I’m already noticing themes of solitude, subconscious patterns, rest, and surrender becoming impossible to ignore.
And yes, of course, miscommunications happen. Technology glitches. Emails disappear. Flights get delayed. Microwaves decide to stop working unexpectedly (based on a true story). But I also think we spend so much energy bracing ourselves for inconvenience that we miss the invitation underneath it.
One quote that’s been grounding me lately, especially while navigating some fun family situations, is from Ram Dass:
“Either you do it like it’s a big weight on you, or you do it as part of the dance.”
Maybe the delay is protecting you from something you can’t see yet. Maybe the conversation that gets postponed ends up happening at exactly the right time. Maybe slowing down is the miracle.
Question 03
I picked this question because the timing couldn’t be more perfect.
I recently co-hosted an in-person workshop (and then the virtual version which you can watch here!) with Alice Bell all about astrology and branding, and one of the biggest questions we explored was exactly this: When is the right time to work on your brand?
The short answer is yes, certain transits can absolutely support a rebrand.
If you’re thinking about refreshing your visual identity, launching a new offer, or stepping into a bigger version of your work, I’d first look to your Ascendant, your Midheaven, and the ruling planets of both. These are the parts of your chart most connected to how you’re perceived and where your career is headed.
I’d also pay attention to upcoming eclipses. Are they activating your 1st or 10th houses? Is Jupiter making supportive aspects to your Ascendant, Midheaven, or their rulers? Are you in the middle of a Saturn transit that’s asking you to redefine your professional identity? Those are all moments that often coincide with meaningful evolution.
But here’s the part I think matters most:
The best rebrands don’t happen because you’re bored of your logo or colors. They happen because you’ve changed and your business and brand are simply trying to catch up to the person you’ve become.
Astrology can absolutely help you choose a supportive moment to make those changes. But ultimately, your chart isn’t telling you who to become, it’s reflecting who you’re already growing into!!
That’s all for this month’s Ask the Capricorn, thank you for trusting me with your questions. I absolutely loved these questions and hope their answers brought you clarity, inspiration, or at the very least, a gentle nudge forward.
