Every year there seems to be a part of the year (usually the summer...I think) where we just aren't releasing anything. I always compare it to my radio days when the flashing red light would go off at the broadcast station signaling that we were “off the air” and we'd all panic. I feel “off the air” right now.
Usually what has happened (as is the case now) is that we are far enough into the next big Hardcore History show recording process that we don't want to delay its progress by spending time getting a Hardcore History Addendum out in the interim. Those HHA shows are obviously much easier to do than the big HH shows, but they still involve things like reading the author's book(s), changing our mental focus, etc. I already feel so behind on the next Alexander the Great installment (Mania for Subjugation III) that I just want to get that DONE and off my plate (not that this is imminent mind you). But that's how we get into these really frustrating dead periods in the release calendar where I am not releasing shows on either feed. Sometimes I feel that I just need the wind to pick up, the muse to scream and coffee to work like it used to…
A thousand apologies to all of you. It drives us nuts around here. A good business person would do a better job handling all this (“Hey Dan, how about an HHA ‘in the can’ to release at times like these?” But NOOOOOOOOO!1). Hey, we don't call this little endeavor “the art project” in-house for nothing! Haha...
In addition, because we never know when these shows are going to be finished, we have a devil of a time trying to schedule around them. It would be nice, for example, to not have speaking engagements/live events set up when the HH show is overdue. But since we never know when that will be, Murphy's Law usually dictates it will be at the most inopportune time in terms of studio time and show creation.
Which (haha) reminds me, by the way, that (what I believe to be) my last live event of 2025 is this week in Portland, Oregon. I was just there recently, so hopefully I haven't worn out my welcome. If you'd like to join us, it's Friday, September 12th and tickets are available here
And now...back to the cave...hoping for the winds to pick up…
Thanks for being so patient. And everything else...
