Depth of field isn’t just a chapter in your first “How To Make a Photograph” book. It’s an active consideration when you compose and finalize every image. Dan mentions that soon we ALL might experience a learning curve if Apple does indeed put a variable aperture into the next iPhone, the iPhone 18 Pro. Just like his recent experience learning how best to use his 75 year old SOM Berthiot cinema lens placed on his Olympus, some things work and other things need some tweaking. Good to remember if a new iPhone is in your future.
