Welcome to The Spotlight. Just when you think the feuding Beckham factions have simmered down and gone yachting for the summer... it’s escalated to a whole new level that not even I saw coming.
In a particularly painful twist, this time it’s the youngest Beckham sibling, Harper, making headlines.
She’s not yet 15, but she decided to take matters into her own hands by turning up, unannounced, at Brooklyn’s Beverly Hills mansion.
The showbiz rumour mill went mad, with accusations of devious behaviour flying – and then Brooklyn appeared to make a not-so-veiled dig at his family in a new advert. Scroll down for my take on what’s really going on.
From the Beckhams, we move down a few rungs on the WAG social scale to the wedding of Perrie Edwards and former Arsenal footballer Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain in Portugal at the weekend.
Unkind people have called them the Poundland Posh and Becks - but Perrie looks a million dollars in our exclusive pictures, while Alex wears a smile that says he is the luckiest man on earth.
Daily Mail reporter Adam Pogrund discovered the secret location (near Perrie’s Algarve holiday villa...) and bagged a front-row spot as the happy couple left the church. Read his dispatch below.
In other news, popstar Duffy was seen for the first time in 16 years, after she revealed, back in 2020, her terrifying kidnapping and rape ordeal. The snaps of her posing with staff at a cafe in Wales emerged online, much to Duffy’s shock, I’m privately told. But what’s next for the singer? Read on to find out.
And Did you see Dua Lipa’s honeymoon snaps? The state of her perfectly toned abs after a week eating pasta on the Amalfi Coast with new husband Callum Turner... I was green with envy!
I’ll always tell you the unvarnished truth about celebs and the world of showbiz. So, what do you want to know? Email your questions to spotlight@dailymail.co.uk and I’ll report back in a future newsletter.
The Tea: Guess which super A-list, but super lowkey couple made their first red carpet appearance in five years?
I didn’t exactly have a chilled Sunday morning. I woke up to a legal letter dropping into my inbox from Brooklyn Beckham’s lawyers at celeb firm Schillings.
In a jaw-dropping and unprecedented step, he accused his parents of setting up pictures of his baby sister Harper visiting his home.
One friend of the family described his allegation as a ‘disgrace’, since Harper could easily have been snapped by a photographer hanging around on the off-chance the family would visit. After all, dad David was being inducted to the Hollywood Walk of Fame just five miles away.
Who knows? But I’m sad to think Harper has become collateral damage in her family’s battles.
Those who know the Beckhams tell me Harper and Brooklyn have never had a cross word. But although she’s tried several times, he won’t engage with her.
Some friends of the family describe Brooklyn as ‘cruel’ - but my colleague Alison Boshoff has heard that he thinks any communication would put Harper in a difficult position with her parents.
In any case, I’m told it’s devastated Harper, 14, who faces spending a second birthday without any private good wishes from her beloved eldest brother.
‘Poor Harper has tried and tried to communicate with Brooklyn,’ says my source. ‘He won’t and she is heartbroken. There is no excuse, she hasn’t done anything wrong.’
And if that wasn’t bad enough, Brooklyn then appeared to hit back in a new advert...
A pop star married a footballer... but locals in Estoi were more interested in the wedding car, reports Adam Pogrund from the Algarve.
I watched outside the picturesque Igreja Matriz de Estoi church as Little Mix’s Perrie Edwards emerged in a cloud of lace, former England footballer Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain beaming at her side.
A handful of pensioners looked on as they sipped Super Boc in the village square. ‘Apparently he’s a footballer. She’s very famous too but we don’t know who they are,’ one local told me.
Most were busy at the small fish market down the road. But they did take time out to queue up for pictures - with the 1950s Rolls-Royce Silver Cloud that brought some of Perrie’s close family to the church.
Duffy is back! The award-winning pop star left the public eye for 16 years after she became the victim of a kidnapping and rape. The singer was drugged at a restaurant on her birthday in 2009, and transported to a foreign country in a traumatic ordeal that lasted four weeks. At Spotlight HQ, we are delighted to hear she’s back and (as exclusively revealed by my colleagues) she has a new team around her and is making music.
For the record
This week in 1999, Madonna’s Beautiful Stranger was No 2 in the charts. And she was falling for her own beautiful stranger: Guy Ritchie, who she was introduced to by Sting and Trudie Styler and a London dinner party. They married and welcomed their son Rocco the following year - but divorced in 2008.
