As you know, we’ve gone through several weeks without rain, just like many parts of the world have experienced this past summer. Which is a strange thing to report, given that locals say it used to rain at least twice a week during the hottest months.
So when the rain started to fall at five in the morning, we continued to sleep, and sleep some more, waking up closer to 7 than 4.
When the fire had been started, and the coffee had been drunk, we stepped outside to feel the rain. To stand in it, to bask in it, to take a shower beneath the clouds and remember what it feels like to be more of an animal and less of a human. Not hiding from the drops, but inviting them to fall, fat and heavy on our skin.
