Today’s post is a little different. It’s an interview I had with Josephine Hardman, PhD, an intuitive healer and certified Akashic Records reader and teacher who is driven by the purpose of helping her clients reclaim their spiritual power and reconnect to the healer within.
I hope you enjoy learning about her journey with the Records as much as I did!
You first entered the Records as a teenager. You’ve basically grown up with them! If there’s anything you could tell your teenage self about your journey with the Records, what would it be?
Great question! I would tell my teenage self, “Relax into the process! The Record Keepers love you, and will be with you offering support ALWAYS. Do not be afraid of ever getting disconnected - because you can instantly return to the Akashic Field whenever you so choose, just by shifting your thoughts or frequency as needed. This is meant to be fun and joyful!”
Have you ever had a time when your trust in the Akashic Records was deeply challenged or stretched to its limits? What was the biggest takeaway for you?
Fortunately, I haven’t experienced a time where my trust in the Records was deeply challenged - although, I HAVE experienced periods of great challenge in my own trust (meaning, trust in myself or in my capacity to get through particular situations in life). The biggest takeaway is always that, as humans, we are not truly in control of anything. Those challenging moments are great opportunities to practice SURRENDERING, rather than trying to struggle against, hold tightly to the past, brace against reality, or control whatever is happening.
Was there ever a time when you disregarded Akashic guidance? What effect did that have on your life?
Generally speaking, no! I've followed the Records’ guidance from pretty much day #1, and this has had a massively transformative and healing effect in my life - allowing me to, for example, step fully into my Soul’s purpose. I do sometimes try to “direct” or control where my business goes - which course to create next, or what content to write, or which next step to take - and, in some of these cases, things just won’t “click” or progress if the Records are suggesting a different direction. I’ve sometimes been stubborn in listening to that! But it always turns out for the highest good of ALL, when I truly listen and follow the Records’ guidance.
When you decided that you wanted to practice professionally, did you know immediately that you wanted to not only offer readings and healing but also teach? Has it been hard to balance these different aspects of your work?
In the beginning, I offered mostly one-on-one readings - a LOT of them! This helped me gain a lot of experience and confidence working with many different kinds of clients and questions in the Records, and also helped me develop my own healing style and approach to the Records. I was a teacher (at the college level) BEFORE I did spiritual work, so I’ve always had that innate ability and desire to teach. It was a bit later in my business that I incorporated teaching - at first, offering short workshops on Tarot and the Akashic Records. I now have developed and teach a comprehensive, one-of-a-kind, basically graduate-level curriculum in my Akashic Records Certification Program for Practitioners. Due to my heavier teaching and mentoring commitments, I have slowed down my one-on-one readings and will often refer new clients to the certified readers I’ve trained through my Certification.
Coming from a background in academia, was there much about your teaching approach that you felt called to change, or did it make it easier to transition into teaching the Akashic Records?
This made it easier and a relatively smooth process to transition into teaching on spiritual subjects, including the Records. I use my skills and training in pedagogy (from academia) when I teach my Akashic Records Certification now - things like curriculum development, effective student engagement, class management and organization, etc.
You’ve touched on the subject of “soul-mate clients” in your podcast. Who do you consider to be your soul-mate client and why?
My Soulmate clients are healers, coaches, readers, therapists, etc (and others in the healing and spiritual professions) who are seeking to become the BEST, most effective, most grounded, most ethical practitioners they can possibly be. These Soulmate clients prefer depth over surface, and are here to co-create powerful transformations with their own clients - so we can all raise the consciousness on this planet together.
What practices, habits, or inner work outside of the Akashic Records have strengthened your connection to the Records?
Tarot, working with Jungian archetypes and symbols, shadow work, psychotherapy, and being in community with fellow Akashic Records readers.
You’ve also mentioned in your podcast that you no longer close your Records. What has been the most surprising thing about keeping them open all the time?
Well, it was a surprise when the Record Keepers said “You don't need to close your Records anymore, you realize that?” It was like I hadn’t been getting the message before! The Record Keepers can have a sense of humor like that. I’ve been surprised at how easy it is to NOT get confused when I keep my own Records open and then go to open a client’s Records for a session with them - it’s like my own Records are still there, but they “recede” into the background, and I can tap into information that’s clearly and ONLY meant for the client in that moment. There is no cross-over and no confusion whatsoever.
In one word, what would you or your life be like without the Akashic Records?
Without the Records - I would be more unconscious (or operating much more from ego!), and life would be more challenging. Sorry, I tried to make this answer shorter!! haha
