early morning. stocked on cold shelves. a no-star culinary win, a local triumph. a small thing removed from a list, taken away from 7-11.
back in hotel room, unwrapping plastic. Photo for painting later. First bite a yes. Remaining bites a blur. Happy tummy.

Aha! Glittery white in my palette saves the day. Yellow, got it. Too much grey, Erase, erase, erase again. Shadow limp. Thiebaud’s bold blue shadows inspire me.
I fall in love with the painting the way I fell for the sandwich: unexpectedly delighted, both a masterpiece of simplicity.
