I know so many schools have already started & some start after Labor Day but were in the count down to Summer ending, sadly.
Over here in my household, we’ve truly been making the most of it. However, I have been feeling very - uninspired. To write, to create to start a new project. Im more on this - nice sancere everyday, beach with the kids, a good book, little mahjong with the gals, swimming laps kind of path right now. Slow.
I have been hard on my self to keep working, pushing, keep going, keep going but my mind and body is sort of telling me to just sit still for a bit.
Life isn’t a race or a to-do list, I don’t always have to be working on something. How lucky am I just to be alive with working legs, health, enjoying the days with my kids as much as I can. Obviously, I have to work to survive, but does it always have to be such pressure?
However, I am so excited for routine to start. Same place daily for my kids, time schedules, the start of fall sports. The structure allows me to flourish at home as well. I am ready to release the feeling of summer mom guilt and start getting back to me a little more.
That being said, here are some of my back-to-school favorites, ha.
Nestig is something I recently discovered. In the Palisades I found this beautiful Montessori bed on Etsy that was low to the ground. Sort of like a glorified yet bigger crib. Great for transitioning. Sort of like the one here which I do love. Someone told me about the Softbloom Bed and I instantly thought, how did someone not come out with this sooner.
It’s like a hybrid between twin bed, crib, sofa bed. I ordered the pink one for my gal cause she’s color obsessed right now and she’s also starting to climb out of her crib- thanks to her older brothers lessons.
One thing I learned from being a first time parent that I really messed up on is KEEP THEM IN THE CRIB AS LONG AS YOU CAN.
Wish they could stay till 10 years old honestly.
As soon as they are out, unless you have some really strict rules and an obedient child- sleeping gets tough again. The night crawlers come out and stand over you at 2am. It’s freaky as hell!
Cover is washable, low to the ground I think this is brilliant, soft and safe.
Yes, the children get sick, always so sick the first couple months of school. Their germs have taken time off from one other and the salt water has soaked up their nuances.
They germs come back together and fester. Lice- yeah once you get to elementary it comes in waves. I trust Hiya all year round to keep up on their vitamins, I love their sleep chewable (that has no melatonin in it) and their probiotics. My son has some gut issues we’re working on. I also just saw they came out with a protein powder for kids which is brilliant.
Pediasure is for the 90’s and lord knows whats in it, but if you have a kid like my son, full of energy and doesn’t really care about food ( I sure wish that was me) then this is a nice addition for smoothies.
I’ve been searching through all my favorite shops. As much as we love a dress- it’s not the most practical at school. We love a nice easy pant.
A vest for when it gets cold cause wearing a jacket and learning to spell your name do not go hand in hand.
Sleep mats, this is the first year I’m also opening up to letting my daughter stay at aftercare and sleep with the other kids for nap time. I never did it with my son cause I choose to be stressed instead. Now I think its actually great for them to learn to co-sleep in a room. I found this nap mat and this one with her name embroidered in it cause obviously it has to be cute.
Red Jeans, Barn Jacket, Slip on’s, my favorite detergent for sensitive skin, love a tank with a baggy jean on boys, collared rugby, swan pants.
White babydoll dress, vest, soccer pants, stripe pants, undies pack, sleep bag, Flowers Tee, Great school shoes.
My entire back-to-school shop is here.
I was thinking about the mom’s and I will dive into more fashion come Fall - but what about back to school for the mom’s? I don’t do yoga pants but I get it, were running around busy women but also want to be put together.
My favorite for this time of year is a mini-short, workout or not and a polished knit. Bring out the casual neutrals and see Jenni Kayne’s new arrivals for the best transitional fits.
JK Sailor Knit, this stunning necklace I just ordered, great relaxed but look-nice on pants ( i have 3 colors- size down) my new favorite flip flop that gives you a bit of lift (size up), this light green top is insanely chic and I always think a crisp white t-shirt with a white skirt is a timless- chic woman look.
oh! And the shape of this bag!
This basic crew with contrast detail, easy throw on collared tee, short ONE and short TWO- great for the legs, and these new sneakers- I got the blue!
I’m also not really a “have to have it designer bag” gal, if I like a bag, I get it because I like it not because who the designer is. I have been eyeing this bag and I got her this week. The leather is so soft and slouchy and it’s a perfect size. Just had to share how much I love her. I have my eye on the cobalt and the blush next. (She;s on sale for $319)
Here is the entire back to school for MOM’s shop!
Back to our regular scheduled life- have a good one x
