ROTISSERIE CHICKEN BECOMES A FASHION ACCESSORY
The era of unexpected brand merch is still going strong. This week, meat snack brand Chomps announced that they are launching the “Le Chic’ken Purse”, a handbag inspired by the plastic containers that rotisserie chickens come in.´
The purse was created to promote the brand’s new chicken stick range and launched ahead of National Rotisserie Chicken Day on June 2 (there really is a national holiday for everything).
It’s the latest example of brands creating unexpected merch designed to get people talking online.
SEPHORA WANTS A PLACE IN YOUR SUMMER VACATION
Sephora is bringing beauty into hospitality with the launch of its Sephora Summer Club.
The activation includes beauty tool rentals, sunscreen stations and shopping kiosks at luxury hotels, allowing guests to interact with the brand throughout their stay. The brand’s signature black-and-white stripes will also appear throughout the properties, turning the hotels into an extension of the Sephora experience.
Rather than waiting for consumers to visit a store, Sephora is bringing the experience directly to them. As brands continue investing in experiential marketing, we’re seeing more activations move beyond traditional retail environments and into spaces like hotels, restaurants and travel destinations.
NIKE, MCDONALD’S AND DEVIN BOOKER HEAD TO THE DESERT
Nike and McDonald’s teamed up with NBA player Devin Booker for a scavenger hunt in the Arizona desert to launch the new Nike Book 2 McDonald’s sneaker.
Participants followed clues through the desert, with Ronald McDonald statues appearing along the route as part of the experience. Rather than relying on a traditional product launch, the brands created an activation designed to get people engaging both in person and online.
As unlikely brand pairings continue to gain traction online, collaborations no longer have to make perfect sense, they just have to capture people’s attention.
SNAPCHAT WANTS TO MAKE ATTRIBUTION EASIER
Snapchat has just announced Unified Attribution, a new measurement solution that combines Snapchat performance data with insights from partners like AppsFlyer into a single view.
The feature is currently in beta and is expected to launch later this year. Once available, it will help app advertisers better understand what’s driving results, optimise campaigns in real time and access all of their insights directly within Snap Ads Manager.
For marketers, fewer dashboards and clearer reporting is rarely a bad thing.
TIKTOK IS MAKING LEGO FANS NERVOUS
A new TikTok trend is testing the nerves of LEGO fans.
Creators are balancing their most impressive LEGO builds in risky ways, prompting anxious reactions across the comments section. The trend has gained enough traction that both LEGO and LEGOLAND have joined in on the conversation (jokingly) asking people to please put their builds safely back on the shelf.
This week brought us a rotisserie chicken handbag, a sneaker scavenger hunt in the Arizona desert and a TikTok trend dedicated to making LEGO fans uncomfortable.
If nothing else, it’s proof that the marketing world never runs out of ways to surprise us.
See you on next week’s scroll.
