the darker the culture, the darker the entertainment. with an abundance of horror films and dystopian storylines, pop culture mirrors the anxiety of our time. with the added layer of algorithms fueling negativity people are disengaging. but positive, healing content may be what brings them back - and feel-good could be good for business as well. ❤️‍🩹

ryan murphy's latest features incredible performances (javier bardem + chloë sevigny), especially) and so much awesome milli vanilli music, but as i watched i couldn't help but feel icky, similar to the previous iteration of the anthology about jeffrey dahmer. i can say the show sent me down many internet rabbit holes and i'm curious if the spotlight will have a halo effect on the menendez brothers' recent appeal.

in july, sarah wrote a terrific piece for THE ANKLER, flagging that hollywood has the opportunity to reach more viewers with stories of faith. so it's great to see a show take a new take on an age-old cultural conundrum: intermarriage between couples of different religions. here, judaism and christianity go head-to-head in a fresh new rom-com that's already stirring up controversy: is a show about a rabbi falling in love with a shiksa a positive portrayal – or a setback?

i listened to this story through audiobook, narrated by michelle williams who does an excellent job at conveying emotion. though britney's story has been told by many, it's absolutely best coming from her own POV.

on first take, this reads like the love child of SUCCESSION x EMILY IN PARIS. in reality, it's a glossy, frothy french soap with a (somewhat) critical lens, looking at the perils of social media, fractious siblings, dog-eating foreigners (!) and a galliano-esque cancellation among two fashionably fabulous haute couture houses.
