Nala Ray Needs Rescue
8 Years, 65lbs
Meet Nala Ray, an 8-year-old pittie in need of rescue. Nala was transferred into our care in May and was adopted shortly afterward. Unfortunately, her adoption was not the happy ending we had all hoped for, and she has since returned to our care after struggling to coexist with the resident cat. Additionally, due to a history of discomfort around other dogs, Nala would do best as the only dog in the home.
Nala’s previous family describes her as a sweet, lovable companion who has never met a stranger. She is reported to be housebroken and non-destructive when left unattended. However, due to her high prey drive, we do not recommend placement in a home with cats.
During her time in our care, Nala has been incredibly sweet and affectionate, eagerly joining staff and volunteers for walks and enjoying time outside of her kennel. Unfortunately, the shelter environment has proven to be very stressful for her, resulting in significant barrier reactivity when people or other dogs pass by her kennel. Because of this, we felt that a foster home would be the best environment to allow her to decompress.
In foster care, Nala was reported to be a wonderful houseguest—well-mannered both in the home and on walks. Her foster parent did note that Nala showed some discomfort around the foster parent’s husband in one specific situation: she would bark and become alert when the couple embraced. Outside of this scenario, however, Nala and the foster parent’s husband were able to coexist and interact without issue.
We are hopeful that a dedicated rescue can give Nala the opportunity to decompress, continue building her confidence, and ultimately find the forever home she deserves. If your rescue is able to help Nala Ray, please reach out.
