Andi and Amos came to BARCS after an altercation with one another in their previous home. Because of this history, they should not be placed together and will need separate placements moving forward.
Amos is the more outgoing of the pair and arrived without any obvious injuries. During his dog assessment, he displayed a confident posture and was somewhat tense when meeting another male dog, showing a hard stare and forward body weight at times. He was able to disengage with verbal guidance and appeared somewhat more relaxed when interacting with a female dog. Amos may benefit from slow introductions and continued guidance as he adjusts to new canine companions.
Andi arrived with a large wound on his left hind leg and was noticeably more timid than Amos. During his dog assessment, he exchanged appropriate greetings and coexisted well with a female dog. He was somewhat stiffer when interacting with a male dog but was able to disengage easily when prompted and settled into sharing space appropriately over time. Andi appears capable of social interactions with other dogs when introductions are managed carefully.
Both dogs are looking for rescue partners willing to give them the opportunity to decompress outside of the shelter environment and continue learning how to navigate social situations successfully. While they should not be placed together, each dog has shown qualities that suggest they could thrive with patient guidance, proper management, and a fresh start.
