Hello friends,

Are you busy later this week? If you’re here in the Chicago area, I’ll be hanging out at the Birch Road Cellar in Lincoln Park from 5:30-7:30 for a feature CAVA artist meet and greet Thursday night and I’d love to connect! Hit reply and send me a note if you’d like the event door code.

I joined CAVA—Chicago Alliance for Visual Artists, when I first moved to the city. There are nearly four hundred members, a very well organized all volunteer board, and outstanding shows and exhibit opportunities for their members. Last night was the opening for the annual Later Impressions group show. Nearly 300 pieces submitted, 95 selected by the jurors and I’m honored to have been one of them.

“In The Midst” was created as one of my projects for an upcoming group workshop that I’ll tell you about soon.

Also, a big shout out to my friend Dana for always being on top of documenting things. I never seem to remember to take pics anymore, let alone get them posted. I walked up just as Dana was getting ready to take a selfie in front of the gallery:

Aside from the outstanding art in this exhibit, it was an exciting and crowded opening. I ran into old friends from my Wisconsin days, friends newly made since moving to the city, and a few artists who I’ve been Facebook friends with but haven’t had the opportunity to meet yet. I hadn’t intended to stay long because I am still recovering from my teaching trip, but it was impossible to tear myself away.
