I completely lost interest in Christianity as a teenager.
Full of rebellion, angst, and heartbreak, I started studying philosophy and practicing yoga, and the frameworks I’d learned at church just couldn’t hold up to my direct experience. There was more honesty in the philosophical questions I explored, and more peace being present with my body and my breath than I ever found sitting in a pew.
For a long time I thought that meant I was done with Christ.
Unexpectedly, it wasn’t my mind that lead me back, but my body. I returned through deep practice and study of somatic healing, through following the truth of what was happening in my nervous system, letting the false identities unwind, letting the distortions that trauma had left in me come undone. And at the center of all that unwinding, I met Jesus. Not a concept, but a living presence. Simple and true and already in love with every part of me.
Too many of us have absorbed Christianity as a set of beliefs you need to intellectually accept and a set of rules you need to follow so that you can go to the right place when you die. It makes sense why people would walk away from that. I did.
But God wants to meet us in a way that is so much more intimate, so much more embodied, so much more alive than that. A way that includes our intellect but also includes our bodies, our hearts, our nervous systems. A way where his presence actually helps us unwind the trauma and pain we’ve been holding — for our whole lives and for generations before.
The gospel is not a set of propositions. The Word became flesh. God chose a body. Love became something we could feel. And that same God wants to meet you in your body — in the tightness under your ribs, in the movement of your blood, in the perpetual flow of your breath. He is not waiting for you to think your way to him. He is already here.
This is why I'm offering Incarnate.
It’s a five-week online course where we explore what it means to dance at this intersection of body and spirit, weaving together somatic trauma healing and the gospel.
Each week we widen the circle of what we can feel, trust, and receive. We start with safety — learning to land in our own bodies. We meet the wisdom of our nervous systems. We turn toward the parts of ourselves we’d labeled as bad and discover every one of them has a gift. We practice letting the missing resource arrive — because the Incarnation is God entering what was empty. And we practice resting in the goodness that is already and always here.
This course is for you if you’re a Christian who wants a more embodied experience of God’s love — whose faith is real, but lives mostly in your mind, and you long to feel it in the depths of your body.
It’s also for you if you’re more in the somatics world — you’ve healed a lot through your body, through yoga, breathwork, therapy — and you’re curious about what it might look like to have a personal relationship with God. To let the healing you already know have a sacred ground underneath it.
Incarnate is not a place for dogma or judgment or debate. It’s a place for us to explore intimacy with our own direct experience of God’s love in open and curious community.
