Rewilding my Business #9: Choosing not To Follow the Social Media Rules so I don't Burnout

I’ve never been one to follow the social media rules and have always looked for the most energy-friendly ways to put my business out there and attract work.

I make sure that I don’t rely on social media to bring in business and use it when I feel called to share BTS or creative inspiration and general wilderness musings. Getting to this point has taken a few years of focusing on being organically discovered but I’m so glad I put down those roots.

Instead of putting my energy mostly into social media when I started my business I didn’t. Deep down I knew it wasn’t quite right for me, even though everyone around me was doing otherwise!

My approach is about creating organic guiding paths through a forest that lead someone to me as opposed to forcefully telling people which concrete path to take.

My energy waxes and wanes, some days I feel social, some days I want to hibernate.

Creativity thrives on breaking rules, not following algorithms and I don’t think these rules are built for any of us who don’t fit into a neat box.

I’m always reminded of longevity, taking time, not following fast trends when I head out into nature. This majestic rock just doing its thing and not caring if it’s on trend or not… is how I want to approach business!
