In this Voice Note From The Wilderness I share how I’ve been feeling like everything online has become so loud, complicated and exhausting.
I remember when social media felt simple. You’d post a photo, share a thought, maybe a piece of design WIP and that was enough. Now it feels like everything has to be bigger, faster, louder and more optimised for algorithms and less about human creativity. It feels so much of the same and anything deep or new that doesn’t instantly hit within 3 seconds is discounted.
I’m craving depth and can’t stomach this fast-food style approach to business. I want to be the home-cooked meal using local veg not fast food grabbed at midnight under fluorescent lights!
On a recent weekend in the Lake District on a little campervan trip it really hit home how much this is spilling out into everyday life. I noticed how people are experiencing places through trends and social media rather than through real connection and time spent getting to know somewhere deeply and slowly. Everything starts to feel rushed and tick boxey.
I also share how I’ve been super -inspired by the band Angine de Poitrine who show how just being truly unique, talented and creative can cut through the ai-slop that seems to be swilling over into every space!
I don’t want to build my work around chasing attention. I want slower conversations, meaningful experiences, voice notes, emails, walks, mentoring and depth and meaning over surface-level connection.
I want less noise, less pressure and more real connection both online and offline and I’ve decided to just follow my own rules and see what happens! Here my full thoughts in this latest voice note.
