As we enter this Holy Week, my heart aches for something deeper. I long to walk closely with Jesus through His final days, tracing His journey toward Easter morning. In response, I’ve begun a mini journey of contemplative, creative liturgies—starting with an Anointing Liturgy inspired by the story of Mary Magdalene. I invite us all to pause, to reflect, and to learn from Mary’s devotion.

As Mary poured out her oil, so are you invited to pour out your love, devotion, grief, and hope in this season.
Take a quiet moment to anoint your body:
Touch your forehead – Bless my thoughts.
Touch your heart – Bless my love.
Touch your hands – Bless my work.
Touch your feet – Bless my journey.
Let this act be your prayer.
What part of Mary’s story lingers in me?
What is my “precious oil” that I’m being asked to offer or release?
Where do I long to be fully seen and received as Mary was?
What part of me needs anointing with tenderness today?
Use color, doodles, words, or movement to express:
What devotion looks like in your life
A moment you poured out love
A symbol of what you’re anointing in this season
No need for perfection—just presence.
Christ,
Who received Mary’s offering with open heart,
Receive mine today.
Help me show up fully,
To pour out love without fear,
And to trust that it is—indeed—
a beautiful thing.
