I am excited to share with you the cover of my new book. Visit the July 28th Announcement Post for more about Cartography: A Meditation on Mapping Home!

In 2023, I published this essay, Family history, distilled: My ancestor Nathan “Nearest” Green, Jack Daniel’s and my dad’s sobriety in Salon. An expanded version is in my new book, Cartography. Through research, personal stories and poetry, I distill, collage, and quilt my family and personal history into a unique reading experience.

This endorsement from Athena Dixon offers additional insight into my book.

“Cartography is a nuanced and poetic view of what constitutes a home and how what fills those vessels--hearts, minds, bodies, and memories-- are ever in flux, moving between the solid present and the ghosts of the past. Yvette Green allows readers to travel with her as she draws, explores, and then expands the boundaries of what home can contain. It's through her exploration of family, place, and history that we learn how it feels to find a sense of belonging while still being brave enough to leave and build a place of one's own." —Athena Dixon, author of The Incredible Shrinking Woman and The Loneliness Files

Here are a few places where you can purchase the book:

I would appreciate your support and would love for you to share photographs of your copy as well as your thoughts about my book here, on Substack, or via any social media site that you use. (Please tag me when you post: Yvette J. Green on Facebook and yvettemuses on IG, yvettemuses on Threads).

If you are really engrossed in the material and writing, I would love for you to provide a review on Amazon, Goodreads, or StoryGraph. A short review of a few sentences is perfectly fine.

Thank you in advance!

On another note:

We are taking a short break and will back to sharing more in a few weeks.
