Join Kelly Baker Josephs for the following two conversations about Caribbean plays that are forthcoming in Manchineel + Seagrape, an open-access journal dedicated to publishing edited scripts of Caribbean plays.

Patricia Cumper, Honor Ford-Smith, Carol Lawes, and Eugene Williams will discuss their play, Fallen Angel and The Devil Concubine, on Tuesday, April 21, 2026, at 1 pm EDT / 12 pm EST + AST.

The LACC Haitian Summer Institute is a dynamic six-week, in-person program at FIU’s Modesto Maidique Campus. It is designed for individuals interested in building or advancing their Haitian Creole language skills—from beginner to advanced levels.

Through intensive, track-based instruction, participants can progress from beginner to intermediate or from intermediate to advanced proficiency. In addition to language training, the program features lectures and cultural programming led by nationally recognized Haitian artists, scholars, and diasporic leaders, offering a rich exploration of Haitian history and culture.

Program highlights include:

• Classes held Monday through Friday, with morning and afternoon sessions

• In-person instruction at FIU

• A six-week immersive learning experience
