The Ethereum Name Service (ENS) is planning to implement two new features that will make it easier and more affordable to register and use ENS domains.
The first feature is Layer 2 interoperability, which will allow ENS domains to be used on Layer 2 solutions such as Arbitrum and Optimism. This will reduce the cost of using ENS domains, and will also make them more scalable.
The second feature is gasless DNS names, which will allow users to import DNS names into ENS without paying any transaction fees. This will make it easier for users to use their existing web addresses with ENS, and will also make ENS more accessible to traditional internet users.
These features are expected to be released in the third quarter of 2023.
