The Solution To Autism Is Right In Front Of You

For the past two decades, people have been hunting for a reason for why autism rates have increased in children so drastically. Some of this can be characterized as a better understanding of the condition and earlier diagnosis, but that alone does not fully account for the exponential increase in autism. Certain nonscientists, political hacks, and “presidents” choose to pedal the idea that vaccines cause autism, a theory debunked multiple times by research, and because of this have blinded themselves to any other possible explanation.

Before I begin, I must also admit how I am directly related to this topic. Both of my children have been diagnosed with varying levels of autism. If you asked candidly, I would tell you I have autism, just like my sister and my father, however none of us have been formally diagnosed. This matters because my general ideas are born from my direct experiences as a child and what my children have experienced.

The knowledge of autism as a disorder is vast, yet it is also unique to each child. There is no treatment for autism directly. Instead, children are provided things like physical, occupational or behavioral therapy. The goal is to improve motor skills, movement, and social interaction. For example, my daughter does things like practicing using her hands to cut with scissors, writing in straight lines, and speaking.

In general, autism is a social and behavioral condition rather than a physical one. In some cases, children with autism will have other physical disabilities, but it is not generally linked to any other part of the body except the brain.

With that in mind, it would be important to determine what genetic or environmental factors might have an impact on a child’s brain. Research has shown there is a genetic component to autism, but this would imply that autism rates would increase with population. Again, the issue here is that a genetic component does not fully account for increases in autism. The condition has increased faster than what you would expect from population increases alone.

The question then becomes whether there are any other relevant environmental factors that can match the rapid increase of autism. Before RFK Jr. went back to attacking vaccines, he briefly blamed exposure to Tylenol. This has been shown to have no relationship to whether a child will develop autism. In the same study, the pesticide RoundUp was tested to similar results. Likewise, neither of these are really “universal” among children.

Finally, there is always some speculation that autism does not exist among the Amish. Now, this could be because Amish are not tested or do not really interact much with the outside world, or this could be pure speculation with no data. Either way, my theory would actually provide an answer to this question, if actually true.

So, what remains as something universal among all children that isn’t vaccines, Tylenol, or RoundUp? Something that might purely impact a child’s brain without any direct physical impacts?
