Throughout 2026 we are releasing a new single on the last Friday of every month! Check out “The Mississippi River Rain,” our song for March! Now available on all streaming platforms.

There’s a song by the great country/soul singer, Bobbi Gentry, called “Courtyard” that caught my imagination a while back. The song describes a woman whose lover built her a palace-like courtyard with everything she could want, but he was too busy to ever visit her there.

I can relate to that feeling because, being a traveling musician, my life is always on the go. This “thing” that the guys and I are compelled to do can wreak havoc with our personal and family lives. But we are who we are and we all just do our best to keep the balance going. Like Tom Petty said, “Once the ghost gets in ya, you just hope that it takes care of you.”

I woke up in the middle of the night not too long ago with this song stuck in my head. It would not let go. So, I made the 2 a.m. trek to my home studio and cut a rough demo of the song so I would not forget it.

In my imagination, my wife and I were slow dancing in a courtyard like the one in the Bobbi Gentry song. A soft rain came and went, but did not prevent us from dancing together in the moonlight.

Imagination can be an amazing and powerful thing. I’ve used mine to both escape and remain connected.

Anyway, this tune is VERY different from what we normally do. That’s one of the many reasons I’m so fond of it. Plus, Frankie really pulled a killer solo out of himself on this one.
