Calling all Educators!

The CMM Institute for Personal and Social Evolution– a non-profit with a mission to create better social worlds through better communication– is excited to invite you to an information session on integrating our free social emotional resources- CosmoKidz and CosmoTweenz- in conjunction with existing curriculum and programs to strengthen students’ relational and communication skills in the classroom and beyond.

Join us on Monday, June 29, 2026, at 6:00 pm Eastern US Time (UTC-4) for CosmoActivities for Educators: Giving Students Tools to Improve Relational and Communication Competence with longtime educators, Amy McDonald and Katrina Telles, who will offer a “how-to” for using CosmoKidz and CosmoTweenz with various student groups across ages and contexts.

What is CosmoKidz?

CosmoKidz, designed for ages 4-8, is a supplemental education and character development program that is created for classroom teachers, school counselors, gifted educators, pre-school and day-care professionals, parents, grandparents, and anyone else meaningfully connected with children ages 4-8. The set consists of 33 illustrated scenarios that explore interpersonal topics that young children face in their everyday social worlds. Topics were gathered from young children around the world who told us, through small group conversations, what they find challenging and demanding in their own lives. The topics cover a range of scenarios from “feeling unsure” and “bullying” to “saying I am sorry” and “making new friends.”

What is CosmoTweenz?

CosmoTweenz- Three Choices… And Then What Happens…?, designed for ages 8-12, is a set of 53 cards with real life scenarios faced by tweens at Home, in School, and with Friends. The activity is designed to provide an opportunity for children ages 8 to 12 years old to have brief but meaningful conversations with their peers, in the presence of an adult, about experiences that are challenging to navigate. These activities help tweens to imagine different social outcomes based on their actions and the possible responses of others. It allows tweens to exercise their judgement, imagination, creativity, critical thinking, and understanding safely using hypothetical situations.

Dr. Katrina Lynette Cassarino Telles is a wife, mother of four, grandmother, educator, and passionate advocate for children. She recently earned her Doctor of Education in Organizational Leadership, with research focused on children’s emotional intelligence and its impact on student success. With nearly 20 years of experience in education, Dr. Telles has dedicated her career to helping children grow academically, socially, and emotionally. As a special education teacher, she believes every child deserves the opportunity to reach their full potential. Her passion for the CosmoKidz program stems from its ability to provide children with the tools for success through engaging activities that build confidence, emotional awareness, social skills, resilience, and a love of learning. Whether working with students, supporting families, conducting research, or advocating for children, Dr. Telles is committed to empowering young people with the skills they need to thrive both in school and in life.

Amy McDonald is a dedicated educator and a lifelong learner. With 20 years of teaching experience from preschool to high school, a masters degree in special education, and a Nationally Board Certified teacher, she enjoys learning as much as teaching. She credits CosmoKidz as an indispensable experience in the classroom that promotes change and engagement within not only the students and.classroom community, but also in the teachers. She is currently a first grade teacher in Oracle Arizona and one of the after school gifted education K-8 teachers. Outside of the classroom, you may find her playing board games with her family, reading, or crafting.
